I came to know of this site from a good friend of mine . He told me that you guys help people who have had unpleasent life experiences .
I have a freind who is facing such a situation . I basically belong to india & here its quite different than what you have in US but still you may give me some good intellegent advice.
My friend had been in love for about 6 years with a girl . They were both quite serious about getting married one day . My friend had built all his plans all around her . The girl is also mature & was very loving . The problem was that my friend was working in a so-ho enterprise & he thought it would be better till he got himself a good job & a healthy bank balance for their livelyhood.
Suddenly one day the girl happened to call my friend up & just said that we cannot carry any longer & I got the news the next day that she's got engaged to some big shot of the town . My friend is also a very renowned guy & his family is one of the most rich families in town . So I dont think that monetary reasons could be behind the breakup .
This broke down my friend & I always find him at bars & pubs drinking booze like hell. As far as I know of the girl she was very much inclined on marrying my friend .............
I cannot comprehend why she took such a step, that too all of a sudden. There had not been any quarrels or something which would have broken the relationship . I am finding out nevertheless what the reasons with her could have been.
I want your advice on how do i get my friend of this rough patch . i am blank on how to do it .
Please help!!

hey maverick.

Sounds like quite the situation. Although i wish i could give you the answer your looking for about his girlfriend, i dont think me or anyone else can. Women are the strangest creatures. :) . As to why she did that to him it could have been for any number of reasons.

My advise on how to get your friend out of this 'rough patch' is to simply look at the bigger picture. Its better that this happen now than after they got married and she leave him then. Save alot of trouble the breakup and divorce, and if kids were involved it could have been even worse.

Also does he really want to be with a heartless woman who leaves him for the big shot in town. One thing i have learnt in life is that most women will, in the end do what is best for them, and look for the guy that they will take care of them the best. She will get what is comming to her and 10 to 1 says she wont be happy with him if this is the case.

There is alot of women out there mate. Some good ones aswell who will treat your friend like a king. They are just hard to find. So tell him to cheer up, get back on his feet and start looking, because you cant mourn over this forever. It happens to everyone...

Yea nick is right man, Chicks will always cheat on you. Tell your friend to get use to it because it will happen again most likley. Although im thinking of western chicks, i dont know how it is like in India. But get over it. No woman is worth worrying over unless she cares about you. I suggest getting drunk and picking up some babes at a bar, you will forget all your worries. Thats life man...

Everything that needs to be said has been said, except... Call the *Censored **Censored **Censored **Censored **Censored * and find out the real reason so you can put it behind and not worry about it. I bet it will be something stupid like she was scared of commitment...

Thats really sad maverick. Many times life takes the most unexpected turns when we least expect it. I know this must have shattered your friend and made him fall weak. As a friend you shouls try to be with him. Try to divert his mind and make him understand that it is better to let bygones be bygones and move on with life .............All the best !!!

i can understand ur friend's situation very well since i too have a friend who is facing a similar situation...i think its better not to remind him about that girl anymore....you need to be wise when you talk to him to get his interest on to something else...even if he talks about it switch on to some other topic in a subtle manner...otherwise he ll think u dont want to listen to his feelings...he needs the company of a new friend...if she is a girl then it ll be better...u ll be thinking i am crazy to say this...but its true...he needs a friend who is a girl....not a girl friend...a sensible girl can only get him out of it...if you can get her a friend like that then thats the best thing...or u shoud get him involved in some other activities...get him too busy to think about it...

Right now, you have to be there for him. Keep him company and try to stop him from drinking so much. Maybe you could suggest a healthier activity like sports or going to the gym. Maybe you could even take a vacation some place else to have a change in scenery. Just try to keep him occupied. You could also let him talk about his feelings when he wants to so all his anger and hurt comes out. It would make him feel a little better I think. Tell him that's it's better that this girl did it now than being cheated when they were already married. It hurts now but he has to move on. He must not let her pull him down like that. If he does, he will only giving her a chnce to hurt him again. His life is worth more than that. THere might be some other girl better for him.

Encourage your friend to go out more but don't him drink so much. Tell him to meet new people or just be be with other friends. Although it feels like the world has just crashed, make him realize that there is more to life. He is still young so in time he will meet another girl and perhaps get in love again.

Tell your friend to go on with his life. Make him stop drinking and make him continue doing his other responsibilities. Occupy his freetime. This will make him busy and before he knows it he's over her already.
