Thursday's meeting has been even more disconcerting because i spent most of the time wondering if the guy was flirting with me!
Yesterday we had met in the membership club which was just across the courtyard from my appartment. Not bad looking, either, although he had a bit if a beer belly! I had been midly surprised when he ordered an Irish Coffee for me at eleven o'clock in the morning, may be that should have set alarm bells going but he seemed very pleasant. Hardly surprising when he ordered and he was drinking whiskey that early in the day! Is that a sign that he is a drunkard?

It seems that you have just known the guy. On this few dates, it's quite difficult to say whether he is a drunkard, coz you have witnessed him drinking only a whiskey.
Obviously, this is too soon to notice any visible signs or symptoms that he is a drunkard. I would have to know him a little bit more, and go out with for few more times.

Drinking whiskey early in the day, might not be a good sign. However, you should not jump to conclusion with only this one glass of whiskey. I don't think that on he would dare giving you the impression that he is a drunkard on this very first date.
