Friend or acquaintance? Personally, I'd say I have a lot of acquaintances but very few friends. An acquaintance to me would be someone who I'd come to maybe for help with something, and I'm nice to them, but I wouldn't want to necessarily see them at my birthday party...

What's your thoughts on this?

Well Said. We dont call acquaintances to our bithday parties.
Friends are those with whom we enjoy sharing our happniess and sorrows

There was a quote that I found on a forum once that was "Friends are people who walk in when the rest of the world walks out." I thought that was a great way to describe a friend.

I think that maybe the two overlap, all friends are acquaintances as you know them. Friends are people who you trust implicitly and can rely on throughly in times of need, acquaintances are just people to gain what you want, piggybackers to power

There's a vast difference between a friend and an acquaintance BB.
You do not want to see them at you birhtday party cause they are not your frineds.
You friends are the one who you wlii want to invite first and eager to see them, i share the same thought as yours too...

I find that this is quite a personal point of view and this might differs for each one. An acquaintance might become a good friend however if they become your good friend, it's not a big deal so don't invite them for your birthday party.

No matter how you called it, a friend or an acquaintance, the name hardly matter for me, as long as I feel ok with someone and i find myself at ease with the person.

I would invite all the people I like for my birthday, I wouldn't mind whether it's a friend or acquaintance. Coz as long as we are close enough and I like the person the name holds no importance.

Friend and acquaintance are both the same for me, they are the people who have always been by my side in difficult and good times and you never know when can an acquaintance turn into a friend, which happens most of the time.

I would definitely want their presence for my birthday or any other friendly party!

Hmmm.. I know lots of people, but only have 3 real friends (by "real" i mean ones I've known for long and who have always been there through not only good but awful times too). But well if I want to make a birthday party, I won't stick to only 3 friends.. I'll invite those people who are just sympathetic to me, this could also be an opportunity to get to know them better. I could find people I'd never have thought would come, and probably for whom I count, but I never noticed!
