To my knowledge, my dad is my real dad, however through my past experiences with the total and utter amount of lies in this family, I'm not really sure. If he wasn't my real dad, I would probably be happier since I hate his guts, but that's another story.

Have you ever had a step parent?

I donot have a step parent. But what I have gathered from others is that step parents love superficially.
Had this happened to you too? If your mom is said to be your step mom, doesnt she love/care for you?

I know someone who has one and was raised by her step mom. She says she's almost like her real mom. I think this is because she never really got to know her real mom. She was also lucky to have a step mom who truly cared for her.

even i never had a step parent....but in both cases step and real ...there can be loving as well as cruel people...it depends on the kind of persont they are and not whether they are step or real i guess........

I agree with mryakker. It really depends on the person. If he is truly a loving person, then he would care for a child, whether the child is his own or just a step child.

I have never had a step parent, thank god, however i should n't think it would be that bad, because your real parent owuld hve to love him/her and for that to happen s/he would have to be fairly nice...

A friend of mine has a stepfather. Although she still saw her own dad, she's close to him and when we were younger she said it was cool. It was like having an uncle around to spoil her. I guess it really depends on what kind of person your step parent is.
