Hi Everybody!!!!!
I have read an article in a magazine regarding divorce. There i came across a term called as "Contested divorce". This is first time i have read or listen about this term. I know that there is no sub type of divorce but this new information has shocked me. Could anyone tell me how would you define a "contested" divorce? Last edited by Jen23 : 06-14-2006 at 07:06 AM. |

Takethe simple wat, it will be much easier this way: If you and your spouse are unable to agree on some of the things that are stated in your divorce agreement, then you will have to settle it through other means and your divorce becomes contested. At this point, a legal representation by a qualified lawyer is the wisest choice that you should take. The more contested issues you have the more drawn out the divorce will be, which typically interprets into more emotional pain and a greater financial burden. A fully contested divorce is usually decided by the court.

Well this is the case in most divorce cases which are taken to court just due to disagreement on some points .
Many people end up losing a lot of moeny behind trials just because there is a point of contention between the spouses. I suggest that mediation is much better . go for it . Will not be that taxing on the pocket |

Well according to me , Contested Divorce would mean that incase there is a possibility that one of the partners or their spouse can't agree on certain matters such as on property distribution, support, child custody and support, or have other issues which they can't resolve or within their reach to resolve, or one of the partners if incase doesn't want the divorce, then both the partners will be going to court in an adversarial or contested divorce
